The IDI assessment process…
- Consultation: We will begin with an initial conversation to discuss the purpose of the IDI and your goals in taking the assessment. The goal of this consultation is to determine if the assessment is suitable for your unique needs and goals as well as whether it makes sense for you.
- In-Depth Education Session: If we decide the IDI makes sense for you, we will conduct an in-depth education session that allows you to learn more about the Intercultural Development Continuum before taking the assessment.
- IDI Administration: After your education session, you will receive a unique link to complete the 50-question IDI assessment from the comfort of your home. There are no right or wrong answers, you simply share your initial reaction to the questions. The assessment should take approximately 15-20 minutes of your time to complete.
- Deep Dive Coaching Session: After you complete the assessment, we will meet to review both your IDI Report and your IDI Intercultural Development Plan. I will help you understand your primary approach to cultural commonalities and differences, as well as areas of potential opportunity. We will further discuss ways to increase your intercultural competence. You will leave the session with clear goals to deepen your self- and other-awareness.
- IDI Report and IDI Intercultural Development Plan: You will receive lifetime access to your IDI Individual Report and your IDI Intercultural Development Plan.
Important Note: The Intercultural Development Inventory may only be purchased and administrated by an IDI Qualified Administrator, such as myself.
Your IDI questions answered…
What is the difference between the Intercultural Development Inventory and the Intercultural Conflict Style Inventory?
Both the Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI) and the Intercultural Conflict Style Inventory (ICS) are research-backed assessment tools developed by Dr. Mitchell Hammer, but they serve slightly different purposes.
While the IDI measures your cultural competence, the ICS assesses your intercultural conflict style (Discussion, Engagement, Accommodation, or Dynamic).
Can the IDI help me in the workplace?
Yes, the IDI is a fabulous tool to support you in the workplace, particularly when it comes to collaborating with people who are different than you. You receive a plan with reflective questions, activities, and learning opportunities that are tailored to you to support the continued development of your intercultural competence in the workplace. This can lead to less conflict, better communication, and improved team dynamics.
Do you offer IDI workshops for companies?
If your workplace is looking to support your employees in becoming more culturally competent, I would recommend an ICS workshop. The ICS workshop will support them in improving communication and resolving conflict across cultural boundaries.
