Engineering Leader Lands Fortune 50 Role After 20+ Years At The Same Company
After more than two decades at the same company, Greg reached out to Dr. Elliott for help pursuing a larger leadership role. Having not searched for a role in more than 20 years, and never at the executive level, Greg felt nervous about how to position himself, particularly in the age of LinkedIn.
Moreover, he wasn’t sure whether he wanted to target large companies or pursue a hyper-growth startup. Before he invested in Dr. Elliott’s career coaching program, he felt intimidated and confused.
1. Clarify: Mapping His Career Direction
Dr. Elliott partnered with Greg over several sessions to identify the right companies and roles to target in light of his background, aspirations, and the current job market.
2. Position: Owning His Fabulousness
Together, Dr. Elliott and Greg clarified his unique value proposition (what Dr. Elliott calls your fabulousness), overhauled and optimized his resume and LinkedIn profile, and developed a strategic networking plan.
Greg was naturally outgoing but struggled with networking. Dr. Elliott helped him slice through his limiting beliefs and empowered him to reach out to his network, which turned out to be critical, as the multiple interviews he was invited to were a direct result of this networking.
3. Perform: Standing Out & Landing the Offer
Greg landed interviews with 4 Fortune 500 companies, primarily in the tech industry. With Dr. Elliott’s advice in his back pocket, he interviewed and received offers from all but one of them, which didn’t feel like the right fit.
Greg ultimately went with an engineering leadership role at a Fortune 50 tech company, and Dr. Elliott coached him on negotiating an increase in his base pay of more than $50,000 and boosted his equity by more than $350,000 (over 4 years).
4. Progress: Thriving in the New Role
Dr. Elliott checked in with Greg after 90 days in the role. He was thriving in the position, had built strong relationships with his new team, and felt confident he’d made the right move.
The Results: A 20+ year company veteran went from feeling intimidated and unsure to fielding offers from nearly every company he interviewed with, ultimately landing an engineering leadership role at a Fortune 50 tech company with a $50K+ base increase and $350K+ in added equity.
Product Leader Breaks Through To Chief Product Officer With 36% Pay Increase
Priya had always interviewed at the product leadership level, and this was her first time interviewing as a CPO. She was getting plenty of recruiter calls but wasn’t converting them past the first round.
Very data-driven, Priya felt her work should “speak for itself” and struggled with storytelling. She also struggled to communicate her unique value proposition (what Dr. Elliott calls your fabulousness). Priya invested in Dr. Elliott’s interview coaching program to close the gap.
1. Clarify: Identifying Her Fabulousness
Dr. Elliott partnered with Priya to identify and articulate her unique value proposition by helping her articulate the distinct value she would bring as a CPO rather than a VP of Product.
2. Position: Elevating Her Career Story
Together, they translated Priya’s data-driven accomplishments into compelling stories that landed with executive interviewers and boards, positioning her as a CPO-ready leader rather than a strong product manager.
3. Perform: Building Real Confidence
Dr. Elliott helped Priya build real, lasting confidence, not just surface-level polish. Together, they went deep to uncover and dismantle long-standing barriers to her confidence (not therapy, but parts work and self-understanding) so she could show up fully in high-stakes interviews.
4. Progress: Landing the CPO Role
Priya converted her interviews into competing offers from three companies and negotiated a 36% increase in total compensation, eventually assuming her first CPO role.
The Results: A product leader who couldn’t get past the first round of a hiring process learned to tell her story and own her fabulousness, converting interviews into three competing offers, a 36% total compensation increase, and her first Chief Product Officer role.
First-Time CEO Turns A Subpar Review Into Board-Level Trust & A Raise
After receiving a subpar 90-day performance review, Veronica, a first-time CEO, hired Dr. Elliott to help her grow her leadership skills, confidence, and relationship with her board. Having stepped up from COO position, she struggled with imposter syndrome and with the shift from operator to leader.
She invested in Dr. Elliott’s executive coaching program to build the confidence, influence, and board-level credibility expected of a CEO.
1. Clarify: Making Sense of the Feedback
Dr. Elliott partnered with Veronica to make sense of the feedback she received in her 90-day review and pinpoint exactly where she needed to grow as a first-time CEO. Together, they separated the signal from the noise.
2. Position: Leading Instead of Operating
As a former COO, Veronica had a habit of dominating meetings and struggled to delegate, staying in the weeds rather than leading.
Using CliftonStrengths, Dr. Elliott helped her see where her operator instincts were getting in her way, step back, trust her leaders, and reposition herself in the eyes of her board and investors.
3. Perform: Stepping Out of the Weeds
With Dr. Elliott’s help, Veronica saw that she had been managing her managers, not leading them. He taught her how to coach her team rather than do their jobs for them and helped her build real, lasting confidence and internalize her accomplishments. They also worked on strengthening her relationships with investors.
4. Progress: Earning the Board’s Trust
By her one-year performance review, Veronica had earned considerably more trust from her board, who were no longer forced to be in the weeds with her. She had received a meaningful raise and a significant equity increase, and her relationships with investors had markedly improved.
The Results: A first-time CEO went from a subpar 90-day review to board-level trust, a meaningful raise, and a significant equity increase at her one-year review by learning to delegate, coach her leaders, and own her fabulousness.

Your questions answered…
Are these clients real?
Yep! These are REAL clients with REAL results. To protect their confidentiality, I’ve changed the names and identifying details, but the offers, raises, and promotions are exactly as they happened. Consider each story a behind-the-scenes look at what it’s actually like to work with me.
My situation looks nothing like these three. Can you still help me?
Possibly. These are just three of the 1,000+ clients I’ve coached, and every engagement is deeply customized. The best way to find out is a no-obligation consultation, where we get clear on your goals and determine whether we’re a mutual fit.
Importantly, I run an application-only coaching practice and work with a very limited number of clients at a time. If we’re not the right fit, I’ll point you toward a trusted colleague who is.
What is the Fabulousness Methodology?
It’s my structured (and highly caffeinated) system for getting you unstuck and moving you forward: Clarify what you actually want, Position yourself strategically, Perform when it counts, and Progress with confidence. It’s not a cookie-cutter plan but a framework I tailor to your goals, your career story, and your fabulousness. You can learn more about it here.
Which coaching program is right for me?
It depends on where you are in your career or leadership journey. If you’re navigating a job search or career pivot, it’s probably career coaching. If you’re preparing for high-stakes interviews, it’s interview coaching. If you’re growing as a leader in your current role, executive coaching will probably be best.
That said, we always begin with a no-obligation consultation to ensure we’re a mutual fit and that working together is your next best step.
How long until I see results like these?
It depends on your goals, your timeline, and the market. It also depends on how much time and energy you’re able to dedicate to coaching each week.
Some clients land a new role within a few months, while others are less rushed and may take up to a year. Others, like the first-time CEO above, invest in growing within their current company.
Every client here grew their compensation. Is that typical?
Growing total comp is one of the most common reasons tech leaders hire me, and salary negotiation is included in my coaching. While every situation is unique, my clients regularly secure five- and six-figure increases to their base pay, equity, and total compensation.
That said, some clients are looking for growth in other areas, such as additional scope and impact, more purpose and meaning, or a greater semblance of work/life balance. Regardless of your goal, we’ll get clear on what you want and make consistent, sustainable progress toward it.
Do I have to “sell myself” to get results like this?
No. My clients are fabulous leaders who tend to dislike (or loathe) self-promotion. My job isn’t to turn you into someone you’re not. It’s to help you own your fabulousness and tell your story in a way that feels authentic to you. This looks different for everyone.
Is this just resume and interview help, or something deeper?
It depends. We’ll often work on tactical pieces like your resume, LinkedIn, and interview skills, but as you can see in these stories, what sets me apart from other professional resume writers and career coaches is how deeply I get to know you as I help you better understand yourself, your career story, and your fabulousness. That’s the work that compounds long after you land a new role.
Will you just tell me what to do?
No. If you’re simply looking for someone to tell you what to do, I’m not the coach for you. The vast majority of the answers to your questions lie within you. As your coach, my role is to ask you deep, moving questions that help you get unstuck, own your fabulousness, and find your truth.
Do you use assessments in your coaching, like you did with Veronica?
Often, yes. One complimentary assessment or inventory is included with my comprehensive coaching programs. Tools like CliftonStrengths gave Veronica concrete language for her natural talents, which made it easier for her to step out of operator mode and truly lead her team. We’ll decide together whether an assessment makes sense for you.
When can we start?
I run an application-only coaching practice and often have a waiting list due to a full coaching load and a busy speaking schedule. Schedule a no-obligation consultation to see whether working together is your next best step.
